On the Steady-State Behavior of Porous Journal Bearings - Bridging the Gap Between Simulation and Experiments
نویسندگان
چکیده
1. INTRODUCTION Porous journal bearings are a common and economic solution for lubrication applications where maintenance and access to the system are restricted or difficult. This work aims to provide the engineer with a validation of the theoretical model and simulation results put forward in an earlier study [1] with those obtained by recent experiments performed with industrially used bearings [2]. Adopting rather small " real-life " industrial rather than specifically designed bearings in tests represents a novelty with definite appeal to the practitioner. This fills a gap in the existing literature, all the more as it provides an intricate challenge caused by the increase of relative errors that are still difficult to properly cope with, given the more pronounced and unavoidable geometrical imperfections stemming from the manufacturing process and their variations due to different samples. These are still not easily quantified.

The Finite Element Transient Structure Analysis of the Startup of the Sugarcane Harvester Transfer Case
The broken bearings and great noise and vibration often occurs with the small sugarcane harvester transfer case when it starts up working. To analyze the startup status of the transfer case conveniently and quickly, the finite element transient structure analysis is carried out. with virtual prototype technology to simulate the transfer case's startup dynamic process and measure the instantaneo...
متن کاملDynamic Simulation of Distillation Sequences in Dew Pointing Unit of South Pars Gas Refinery
The understanding of the dynamic behavior of distillation columns has received considerable attention because distillation is one of the most widely used unit operations in chemical process industries. This paper reports a dynamic simulation study of the possible distillation columns sequences of Dew pointing unit in the second phase of South Pars Gas Refinery. In this unit, three columns are u...
متن کاملNewtonian and Non-Newtonian Blood Flow Simulation after Arterial Stenosis- Steady State and Pulsatile Approaches
Arterial stenosis, for example Atherosclerosis, is one of the most serious forms of arterial disease in the formation of which hemodynamic factors play a significant role. In the present study, a 3-D rigid carotid artery with axisymmetric stenosis with 75% reduction in cross-sectional area is considered. Laminar blood flow is assumed to have both Newtonian and non-Newtonian behavior (generalize...
متن کاملTransient thermal study of recuperative tube in tube heat exchanger operating in refrigeration system using experimental test and mathematical simulation
Joule-Thomson cooling systems are used in refrigeration and liquefaction processes. There are extensive studies on Joule-Thomson cryogenic systems, but most of them coverage steady state conditions or lack from experimental data. In the present work, transient thermal behavior of Joule-Thomson cooling system including counter current helically coiled tube in tube heat exchanger, expansion valve...
